I finally wore out Kona

I rode outside on Saturday. It was a little windy with some sunshine. The weather did not last long. By the end of the ride, the winds picked up and the water started to drop. :-(

I ran the dogs this morning 13.1 miles. I didn't think I could wear out Kona. I think I may have overdone it, she was limping a bit after the run. After a nice nap, she was back to normal. I wish I could recover like that.

I am going to start adding in an extra run and swim workout for March. I still have two months before I get serious.

2 more months...

I figured out that my season doesnt start officially until April 26. Woo Hoo!!! This means 2 more months of low key workouts.

I went home on Tuesday for lunch to run the dogs and try to beat the rain. It is never a good sign when you smell poop. I felt so bad for Fina. There was a big pile and some smeared throughout the kennel. UGH!!! I washed the dogs, cleaned the kennel, then quickly headed out for the run. I did not miss the rain. Luck was just not with me.

The best part of the day was baby sitting, Aryana. She is so cute!!!

It has been fun playing with the Quarq. I rode the trainer for an hour, several 1 legged drills and some spin ups.

This morning I swam 3600 meters. I felt a little tired, so swam ez. I ran for six miles after work. It is good to see I have a little speed right now. I didn't look at the watch until the run was completed.

What a beautiful weekend for workouts

It was a bit chilly to start the ride Saturday morning. It warmed up nicely over the next couple hours. I was supposed to ride with the group, but wasn't worthy enough. I rode solo for 42 miles and then took the dogs for a short run. I felt horrible. I think my nutrition was a little off. The girls had fun running through the trails.

Sunday I ran a little over 10 miles with the dogs. I gave them a bath. Kona was so tired she crashed on the couch within 2 minutes.

I had a solid swim this morning at the pool. Lots of 300s.

I might get to see Melissa's baby tomorrow. :-)

A few more weeks of low key workouts and then it's time to get serious.

The Lynskey is back with a few...

I picked up my bike yesterday. Newly equipped: ROTOR Cranks with Q rings and ceramic pulleys, Shimano 7900 brakes, and a QUARQ Powermeter.

Today was my first ride with a working powermeter. I bought an Ergomo a few years ago. It hardly ever worked.

QUARQ worked as promised. It paired with my Garmin 310XT right away. I set up some data fields with power and cadence. I haven't been on my bike for almost three months. I decided to ride about 20 miles. It was sunny and 60. There was a nice wind. I decided to sit up for 2.5 miles then get into aero. It makes a huge difference when you have been fitted to your bike. Aero feels so much better than sitting up. I just rode trying to keep the cadence 85-95. I peaked at power every once in awhile. At the end of the ride, I averaged 208watts at 21.3mph. I didn't think that was too bad, especially since it was a cruise ride. I will ride a few more times and then find my FTP, so I can maximize my cycling.

The ROTOR Q-Rings were a little different at first. I noticed a little bit of slipping on the heel pull. I felt like I adjusted quickly to the new shape.

Finally, adjusting..

I am starting to feel better. I don't need 10 hours of sleep every night. I can't wait to get my bike back. The stationary is not very comfortable. My swimming and running are returning back to peak training form. It's gonna be a great 2010!!!

Ugh jet lag!!!

DC was fun and I learned a lot. I am glad to be back home. Kona has grown a lot. I think she is a little bit taller than Fina. The jet lag is kicking my butt. I don't feel like I can get enough sleep. My focus for this month is getting back to a routine for training. My bike is still at the manufacturer. I am hoping the Quarq and bike are shipped back to Triumph at the same time.
